Drywall and garages
Drywall Repair and Garage Finishing
Holes patched, new board hung, seams finished flat, and garages insulated and made ready for paint, shelving and a coated floor.
Holes, cracked seams and a garage that never got finished
Drywall problems announce themselves in ordinary ways. A doorknob dent behind a bedroom door. A hole left where a wall mount came out. A seam that cracks along the same line every winter, or a ceiling patch that shows through two coats of paint. Most homeowners live with them for years because the repair looks like a bigger job than it is.
Garages have their own version. Plenty of garages in Indianapolis, Fishers and Greenwood were built with bare studs and a single layer of board, or with no finished walls at all. They run cold in January, hot in July, and every hand tool you own ends up leaning against exposed framing.

Cut back to the framing, hang new board, finish it flat
On a repair, Mike cuts the damaged section out square and back to solid framing, so the new board has something real to screw into. A patch pressed over a broken edge fails again. Then the new piece goes in, the seams are taped, and joint compound goes on in thin coats, each one feathered wider than the last and sanded between coats.
For a garage, the order is framing check, insulation between the studs, board hung over it, then the same tape, compound and sanding as any room in the house. He stops at primer, so the walls are ready for paint or for whatever finish the owner wants next.
Mike holds a general contractor's license with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Plan Commission and Building Authority, and he does all of his own work. The person who measures the wall is the person who sands it.
Prime it, paint it, then put the garage to work
Fresh compound drinks paint unevenly, so new drywall needs primer before color. Skip that and the patch shows as a dull square even when the surface under it is perfect. That is why the finishing work and the painting belong to the same job, and why Mike also paints interiors.
A finished garage opens up the rest of the list: wood shelving along a wall, a coated floor, trim around the door. Each of those goes on easier over a clean, even wall. Call 317-850-6427 and Mike will tell you what your walls need before any work starts.
